Mental Health Care Costs
An Important Message

Here is a sample of the estimated average of Mental Health Care expenses.
Now look at your insurance coverage. Next figure that you have a child that needs the following: Individual therapy once a month, family therapy twice a month, is hospitalized twice for 30 days each or is placed into a Residential Program. Now figure it out for a year and minus your coverage that your insurance will pay. (What do you think now?)
  • A therapist visit . . . $250.00
  • Psychiatrist visit (avg. time 15 minutes to 1 hour). . .$75.00 to $225.00
  • Family therapy session. . . $200.00
  • Inpatient Hospitalization: @ $500.00 per day avg.
  • Residential Treatment Center @ $239.00 per day, $7,170.00 a month

  • Residential Treatment Center (avg. stay 3 - 6 mon.) avg. cost $21,510.00 - $43,020.00
Now, that is a very good amount of money we are speaking of here. Now try to figure out the income your family would need to pay these costs if you don't have insurance and/or income above the amounts for assistance.

An Important Message !
Our Children are dying and committing suicide and there is something that we can do about that as long as we band together and try to make there lives comfortable, happy, and safe. We try to do the best we can and then bam the universe slaps us in the face and then somebody is gone due to suicide, or they get worse or something went wrong. You then realize that you are not safe and everything's not OK. So we cannot give up, we have to FIGHT ON
You can be aware and awake with your eyes wide open or you can choose to close your eyes tightly shut. In this Country, we are very lucky, if we want to we can choose to keep our eyes closed. Who wants to think of a child that has a Mental Illness or all those Million's of children that suffer with a Mental Illness, some will not make it to adulthood. So that means we have to keep doing more and let people know that this Mental Illness is nothing to be afraid of, that children are not getting the help they need.
We also have to keep in the back of our minds that there are children out there that we cannot see them. They are with the people they love and Mentally Ill, they are living death in their heads, in there home, and in their hearts. These children cannot cope and just give up because there is no help for them when there Doctors request residential placement. So WE have to fight for them to fight the good, fight for them because we can, we are capable and we are blessed very blessed.
We can't stop because you see this Mental Illness is becoming more frequently apart of our lives and if it's not going to stop then we can't either. If we have to crawl on our knee's and beg, to do what it takes because there is one child out there suffering, just one child that is scared, and needy than that is what we have to do. We have to help them because that is our privilege to help them and it is our responsibility to, as a country and a person to lead the way.
Those documents in Washington, DC, I think you all know what one's I am talking about, says, "Everyone is created equal", EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE.
We cannot allow this Mental Illness to be business as usual, we have to find help, somehow, for these children all around, because they cannot help themselves. Please help us to help them, PLEASE.
