Great Mississippi River Race for Rett Syndrome, 2001  During the following days and nights, physical and mental endurance will be taken to the extreme while attempting to paddle 2,348 miles nonstop to the Gulf of Mexico in world record time. However, setting a time record isn't the sole focus of this epic journey. Participating teams, together with families from across the country, will be raising public awareness and over one million dollars for bio-medical research funds for Rett syndrome, a rare and devastating disease affecting thousands of little girls and young women.
