Incest Survivors Resource Network International (ISRNI), founded in 1983 at the Friends Meeting House in New York City, is an EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE network run by survivors for other survivors and for professionals who work with survivors. Since its 1983 inception, ISRNI has operated the first national and international helpline for survivors and professionals answered in person by incest-survivors-only and was one of the first to specifically encourage calls from adult survivors of mother-son incest (telephone hours now reduced from 24 hr. to 2-4 pm ET & ll pm-Midnight ET Mon-Sat). ISRNI provides callers with information about organizations and groups that support survivors as well as publications in the field. It encourages the growth of survivor support groups and will give guidance to survivors who wish to start a group(s) of their own. ISRNI also participates in committees of national and international organizations and provides handouts for some of their workshops and conferences.
